Terms of use

The terms for using Atuny.

Effective 30 October 2026 · Echelon One Pty Ltd · hello@atuny.com

The short version

Atuny helps you prepare. It does not advise you.It organises your situation, sets out the law and the time limits for matters like yours. It does not tell you what to do or how your matter will turn out.
Nobody here is your lawyer.Atuny is not a law firm. For anything that matters, take your pack to a lawyer or a free legal service. It is built to be handed over.
Your consumer rights stay whole.Nothing in these terms takes away the guarantees the Australian Consumer Law, or your own country's law, gives you.
Monthly cancels online, any time.No notice period and no exit fee. You keep access to the end of the month you paid for.

1. Who we are

Atuny is a service of Echelon One Pty Ltd (ABN 78 618 159 354), a company based in Adelaide, South Australia. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Echelon One Pty Ltd, and "you" means the person using Atuny.

You can contact us at hello@atuny.com.

These terms, our refund policy and our privacy policy together make up our agreement with you. Please read section 2 (what Atuny does) and section 12 (your consumer rights) in particular.

2. What Atuny does, and does not do

Atuny gives you legal information and helps you prepare. You describe a legal problem and can add your documents. Atuny uses AI models, working from law our system retrieves, to give you a short answer for free or, if you buy one, a preparation pack.

What a preparation pack contains

  • Your facts and documents organised into a dated timeline, with each date linked to the document it came from.
  • The time limits that commonly apply to matters of that kind, with the law behind each. Where you have given dates, the date each limit would fall on, worked out arithmetically from your dates and marked "if your dates are right".
  • The law for situations like yours, in general terms, with each citation checked against the source text and the version of the law it used.
  • The factors a decision-maker considers in matters of that kind, stated generally. The pack does not link your facts or documents to any factor and gives no verdict on any of them.
  • What the other side in matters of that kind commonly argues. It does not assess who is right.
  • What is missing: documents or facts that would matter and that you have not supplied.
  • The general routes for problems of that kind and what each involves, in no particular order.
  • Questions to take to a lawyer or a free legal service, and the free services that may help with your kind of matter.
  • An index of the documents you supplied.
  • For a matter under the Fair Work system, the Fair Work Commission's statement about the use of generative AI, for you to complete if you need it.

What Atuny does not do

  • It does not tell you whether you will win, how strong your position is, or what a court, tribunal or other decision-maker is likely to do.
  • It does not tell you what to do, which route to take, or whether to accept an offer.
  • It does not reach a conclusion about your rights or obligations. In particular, it does not decide whether a time limit applies to you, when time started to run, or whether an exception or extension is available. The dates it works out are arithmetic on the dates you gave.
  • It does not draft letters, emails, demands, replies or any other communication, or any document that changes your legal rights. The Fair Work statement above is the only form it includes, and it is the Commission's, not ours.
  • It does not tell you that you do not need a lawyer.
  • It is not legal advice, and it never describes itself as advice.

The same rules apply to free short answers, follow-up questions and chat. They explain the law, the process and your pack. They do not tell you what to do or how your matter will go.

Where a matter is already before a court or tribunal, the pack says at the start that it is one to take to a lawyer or a free legal service now, and it stays with the law and the process.

Atuny is not a law firm

Atuny is not a law firm, and nobody at Atuny or Echelon One acts as your lawyer. No lawyer reviews your question or your pack. Using Atuny does not create a lawyer and client relationship with us or with anyone else. What you tell Atuny is not protected by legal professional privilege, so in a dispute a court or another party may be able to require you or us to produce it.

If your matter is important to you (money, your home, your job, your family, a court or tribunal case, or a deadline), take your pack to a lawyer or a free legal service before you act. That is what it is built for.

How packs are made, and their limits

Before your question reaches an AI model, our system replaces names, addresses, contact details and ID numbers with placeholders on our own server, and puts them back in your pack. Each citation in a pack is checked against the source text. A further check looks for sentences that predict an outcome, recommend an action or draft a communication, and rewrites or removes them before you see the pack. These steps reduce errors. They do not remove them. In particular:

  • Automated checks can miss things. If any part of a pack reads as telling you what to do, treat it as information only, and please tell us.
  • A pack is only as good as the facts and documents you give it. Missing or wrong facts, or wrong dates, change the time limits and everything else.
  • The law changes, and our copy of a law may not include the latest change. Each citation shows the version of the law used.
  • Atuny may not hold the law that covers your question, particularly very recent cases or some state, territory or overseas law. When the law it finds does not cover your question, it is designed to say so.
  • Do not rely on Atuny for a deadline that is close, and do not use it in an emergency. If a time limit may be near, contact a lawyer, a free legal service or the relevant tribunal now.

3. Who can use Atuny, and where

Atuny draws on the law of Australia (Commonwealth law, and state and territory law that has been loaded so far, which grows each month), New Zealand, Singapore, Canada (federal law and British Columbia), the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands and the Abu Dhabi Global Market. It does not cover the law of other places, including the United States.

Atuny is not offered to people in the United Kingdom, the Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey. Visitors from those places can read about Atuny, but cannot ask questions, open an account or buy anything.

Preparation packs and Atuny Monthly are not yet offered to people in Canada or Singapore. Free short answers are.

You must be 18 or older to use Atuny.

If you use Atuny for a business or another organisation, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these terms for it. These terms then apply to that organisation as well as to you.

4. Your account

You can ask a short question without an account. To buy a pack or subscribe, you need one. You sign in with a link we email to you, or with Google. We do not store passwords.

Anyone who can open your email can sign in to your Atuny account, so keep your email account secure, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account. An account is for one person.

A pack usually takes several minutes to put together. If a pack you paid for is not delivered, our refund policy says what we will do.

6. Atuny Monthly

  • It is a subscription. Atuny Monthly renews automatically each month, and we charge your card in advance each month on the day of the month you first subscribed, until you cancel. There is no minimum term.
  • Cancelling. You can cancel online at any time from your account page, without giving notice or a reason. Cancelling stops the next payment. You keep access until the end of the month you have paid for. We do not refund part-months when you cancel by choice, except where the law requires it or our refund policy says we will.
  • What is included. Up to 500 chat messages and up to 10 preparation packs in each calendar month. The limits reset at the start of each calendar month (UTC), which is not the same as your billing date. You can also ask follow-up questions on each pack for 30 days after it is delivered, and ask short answers without a monthly cap. All use is subject to rate limits that stop automated or abusive use.
  • Reaching a limit. If you reach a limit, we will tell you in the app. You can wait until the next month starts, or buy a single pack at the normal price. We will never charge you for extra use without asking you first.
  • Price changes. If we change the Monthly price, we will email you at least 30 days before the new price applies to you. If you do not want to pay it, you can cancel before then and you will not be charged the new price.

7. Payment

Payments are made by card through Stripe. Stripe holds your card details; we never see or store your full card number. You confirm that you are allowed to use the card you pay with.

If a Monthly payment fails, we will tell you and try again. If it still fails, we may pause your subscription until it is paid. You keep your saved packs if a payment fails.

8. Your questions and documents

You own what you type and upload. You give us permission to use it to provide Atuny to you: to read it, to send it (with names and contact details replaced as described in section 2) to the AI services we use to prepare your answer or pack, and to keep your questions, packs and chats on your account until you delete them. Our privacy policy explains this in detail, including which services receive your information and where they are. We do not use your questions, documents or packs to train AI models.

Only upload documents you are entitled to share. Questions about legal problems often involve other people. Include their details only where the pack needs them, and where you can, describe them by role ("my landlord") rather than by name. The automatic replacement of names can miss some, so leave out what the pack does not need.

9. Using your pack

Your pack is for your own use. You may keep it, print it, and share it with a lawyer, a free legal service, an adviser, your family or your business, and use it in your own matter. Please do not sell packs, or offer Atuny's output to others as a service, without our written agreement.

We own Atuny itself: the website, the software, our design and our own text. Nothing in these terms transfers that to you.

10. Using Atuny fairly

You must not:

  • use Atuny for anything unlawful, or to harass, threaten, defame or harm another person;
  • try to break, overload, probe or get around the security, rate limits or monthly limits of Atuny;
  • use bots, scripts or automated tools to send questions or collect output, unless we agree in writing;
  • pretend to be someone else, or use someone else's account or payment details without their permission; or
  • upload anything that contains malicious code.

11. Suspending or closing an account

You can close your account at any time from your account page. When you do, we delete your questions, packs, follow-ups and chats, except records the law requires us to keep (such as payment and tax records). Our privacy policy explains what we keep.

We may suspend or close an account only if we reasonably believe it is being used in serious or repeated breach of section 10, for fraud, or in a way that creates a security risk to Atuny or its users, or where the law requires us to. Where it is safe and lawful, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond first. If you think we got it wrong, reply and we will review the decision.

If we close your account for any reason, we will refund any pack you paid for and have not received, and the unused part of any Monthly payment. Unless it would be unsafe or unlawful, we will give you 30 days to download your packs as PDFs before we delete them.

12. Your consumer rights and our responsibility

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled: to cancel your service contract with us; and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes those rights, or any other right you have under a law that cannot be excluded.

Those guarantees include that we will supply Atuny with due care and skill, and that a pack will be reasonably fit for any purpose you make known to us, in the circumstances in which the law applies that guarantee.

New Zealand. If you are a consumer in New Zealand, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 also applies, including the guarantees that services will be carried out with reasonable care and skill and will be reasonably fit for a purpose you make known to us. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under that Act or the Fair Trading Act 1986.

Elsewhere. If you live outside Australia, you also keep any consumer protections the law of your country gives you that a contract cannot take away. These terms do not take them away.

What we are responsible for

We are responsible for loss you suffer because we did not supply Atuny with due care and skill, or did not meet another guarantee, as the law provides. We do not cap that responsibility.

If you find a citation in a pack that does not say what the pack claims, report it from the pack and we will review it. Our refund policy explains refunds.

13. Changes to Atuny and to these terms

We improve Atuny over time and may change how it works. We will not reduce what you have already paid for. If a change materially reduces what Atuny Monthly includes, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies, and you can cancel and receive a refund for the unused part of your current month.

We may update these terms and our refund policy. We will email account holders at least 30 days before any material change takes effect, with the new wording and a plain explanation of what changes. If you are on Atuny Monthly and do not accept the change, you can cancel before it takes effect and we will refund the unused part of your current month. A pack you have already bought stays under the terms that applied when you bought it. If you use Atuny without an account, the version on this page when you use it applies. The current version and its date are always on this page.

14. Complaints

If something has gone wrong, email hello@atuny.com and tell us what happened. We will acknowledge your message within 5 business days and aim to resolve it within 30 days.

You do not have to complain to us first. You can contact a consumer agency at any time. In South Australia that is Consumer and Business Services; elsewhere in Australia, your state or territory fair trading agency or the ACCC. Privacy complaints are covered in our privacy policy.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of South Australia. The courts of South Australia, and courts that can hear appeals from them, may decide disputes about them. This does not stop you from bringing a claim in a court or tribunal where you live, and it does not take away any protection the law of your country gives you as a consumer.

16. General

  • If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
  • If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • We may transfer our agreement with you to another business that takes over Atuny, if your rights under it are not reduced. We will tell you if this happens. You may not transfer your account to someone else.
